The Obsidian community scan warns about the \x00 control character in PLAIN_CHARACTERS (src/gui/choiceList/renderChoiceName.ts:9). The non-ASCII range now uses \p{ASCII} with the u flag, which matches the same characters.

oxlint no-control-regex flags the old line and not the new one. The existing renderChoiceName tests (emoji, \u2028/\u2029) pass.

No release or migration impact.

Note

Low Risk
Single regex change in plain-name detection; behavior is covered by existing renderChoiceName tests including emoji and line-separator cases.

Overview
Rewrites the PLAIN_CHARACTERS regex in renderChoiceName.ts so plain choice names are detected without a \x00–based negated range that triggers no-control-regex / community scans.

The pattern now uses explicit Unicode ranges (still skipping U+2028/U+2029) and adds the u flag plus a case-insensitive i flag, so non-ASCII names like emoji and accented text keep taking the fast text-only path instead of the Markdown renderer.

Note

Fix PLAIN_CHARACTERS regex to match non-ASCII choice names without control characters

Rewrites the PLAIN_CHARACTERS character-validation regex in renderChoiceName.ts as a single Unicode-mode character class. It explicitly lists permitted ASCII characters and non-ASCII ranges, excluding only the Unicode line and paragraph separators. Risk: none identified.

Macroscope summarized e25e74b.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Bug Fixes
    • Improved plain-character matching for choice names using explicit Unicode-aware rules. Listed ASCII characters remain supported, while line and paragraph separators and lone surrogate code units are excluded.

Full details: Title check

Explanation

The title names the fix and the area: a regex change in choice-list so non-ASCII names match without a control character. The raw summary confirms that PLAIN_CHARACTERS now uses Unicode mode and explicit Unicode ranges, and that it no longer matches lone surrogate code units. The objectives say the change replaces the explicit ASCII range with \p{ASCII} and enables the u flag, which removes the \x00 control-character warning. The title describes the main change from the developer's view, so the check passes. Minor points: the title is long at 80 characters, and the raw summary does not mention the \p{ASCII} or the removal of \x00 directly, so the title's wording on non-ASCII matching is a reasonable reading of the objectives rather than a direct statement in the summary.

A rabbit reads the names with care,
Unicode ranges shape the match.
Surrogates now stay outside,
Line breaks keep their boundary,
And plain names hop along.
