RIPWIRE-RUBY C (final round) + D + E — one name tower, language-first answers, client hint, disclosures

The #432 story, resolved while this PR was in flight: that PR was merged upstream as train 35
(b8f73bb8, 2026-10-26) with its review round absorbed — train 36 (6e2a8d6f) followed hours
later and this branch rebases onto it too — so this branch is no longer a supersedement,
it is the next increment: it rebases our C(final)+D+E stack onto that merged main (22 commits, applied
except one docs file re-derived here). Every lego/tower commit lives in main now with its SHA intact;
resolveFocus here is just the thin projection wrapper carrying the language-anchor context into the
shared focusOfOrderedMatches. Net vs main (train 36, 6e2a8d6f, absorbed here by rebase): 31
commits, 31 files, +3279/−1955 — the bulk is the regenerated showcase capture.

The rule. Multi-definition name answers (CLI single-pick verbs, LSP def/refs/hover +
workspace/symbol, MCP twins) are ordered: anchor's exact language > its family (C/ObjC behind C++,
Kotlin behind Java) > the kind ladder > id
. The anchor is what you asked (Shape@rs), else what you
asked from (the document's language), else the language whose definitions own the name most (a def
census riding the resolver's own walk; data formats barred). Task C's reference-symbol election — a
language elected by path accident, which then re-ranked the set that elected it — is deleted. #432's
final lego pair is kept and absorbed: the pick lives in one shared focusOfOrderedMatches — --lego's
role order (implementors ahead of the extracted contract on the type rung) and every other verb's tower
front read the same pick function; resolveFocus stays the thin projection wrapper carrying the
context lane into it.

Vettable defaults: @lang is a scope (Rust-only answers to @rs) — unless Rust holds nothing,
then foreign rows are served AND disclosed (the matching language holds no definition; N in others,
rc untouched); unknown @lang refuses with the vocabulary; case tolerance is parse-only
(@CPP=@cpp, emission stays canonical); no JS/TS family merge; D added no new flags — @lang is
vocabulary. E's single flag (--lsp-langmap=) is a config source, not a verb surface.

Task E — the declared language, through a map. --lsp took the document's language from the PATH;
{ ".h", Lang::Cpp } is a convention, and a C project's editor has been saying "C" in every request
for free. The declaration now replaces the context anchor — only where its id maps through a user
editable alias map AND the suffix is overridable (default the .h family); it never filters (that is
@lang's job), never outranks an explicit @lang, never reaches the document-free workspace/symbol,
and an unmappable id is byte-identical to today (arms (37)–(41) pin each property, red-first). The map
is config: compiled defaults seeded from the Zed extension's grammar names, extended by
--lsp-langmap=FILE / $XDG_CONFIG_HOME/ripwire/lsp-langmap.toml; raw client strings never enter any
protocol echo — only ripwire tags and the origin word client flow onward.

Disclosed, not trusted: seed answers carry reflang="cpp" reflang-origin="corpus" (defined in
both legend dialects), the picker sends it as a window/logMessage ahead of the response — merged
into the cap notice when both apply — and disclosures fire only when something was actually answered.

Blast-radius items for the reviewers:

The stale-capture arm that reddened every #432 leg, closed at its source. Capture
2026-10-26 regenerated on the linear tip (arm (I) now reads the live dictv; arm (H)'s seed line
re-resolves after graph.h moved; arm (D) names --lsp-langmap in the generator's not-run clause
beside --lsp — lspcheck owns those dialogues), and docs/COMMANDS.md rebuilt from the same capture
in the same commit. README flag count moved to the live 193.

Gates (shipped tree, leap-build container, no CMAKE_BUILD_TYPE): the full battery re-ran on the
train-35 base in one container cycle — lspcheck 48 arms, langordercheck, a9 (§A9.4), kotlin, decltodef
(compile-driver), rubyschema, safedelete, connect, mcpclidiff, mcpverbs, mcpattrparity, legendcoverage,
graphlegendbudget, compact strict-twin, docscommands, showcasecapturecheck, readmedrift, cppqual
(readWholeFile pin now 36 — E1's loader rides the canonical helper), agentsurface, gateexit,
printffmtparity: 24 ALL PASS, zero FAIL lines in the board log. langidentity rc=0 with its predicate
ratchet at the ceiling; determinism ×2; map byte-identical vs a binary built from current main
(6e2a8d6f)
— absorbing train 35 and train 36 and adding D/E moves no map byte beyond what main
itself already does: all of it is query-time resolution. quality-delta origin/main..HEAD: rc=0, zero gating rows —
two acked families in the tracked ledger, each with its reviewed reason (E3's langMapPath config seam
on runLsp; the one-line-forwarding wrapper idiom rows against atomsOfConfusion/testRowsJoined —
removing that wrapper duplicates the composition at every caller, which is more clone, not less). ASan
(-DRIPWIRE_ASAN=ON build + full-tree run under LSan suppressions): clean on this base's sources. What
CI caught on the pre-train-35 base — three gate pins predating the wave (the readWholeFile count, the
flag's absence from the MCP skill body, the single-line verdict idiom in my own langordercheck) — is
closed at the contract in 10a0d1a8, which rides this rebase.
A CodeRabbit round on this PR then read fourteen findings; the seven real ones are fixed in 9032b2cb
(path-keyed didOpen records, pre-initialize guard, the ?-vocabulary refusal, qualified-lane tail strip,
companion-flag refusal for --lsp-langmap, help-row placement, quoted TOML keys, and the riwire: typo
batch across seven user-visible strings), with new arms lspcheck (42)(43) and langordercheck (A8) and a
control pin (A9) whose comment states what a red-first there would cost the fixture. A second read of
the same review corrected the legend's defs= prose to the order the code now keeps (priced in the
same round: around/v1 1230→1240, manifest row with it), added the plan's
<root>/.ripwire/lsp-langmap.toml search slot (lspcheck (44)), dropped a context parameter no
caller ever fed, moved --lsp-langmap= into the Windows path-normalization table, and told the
unreadable-map message to stop lying about what it falls back to.

AI assistance: @mpapis with AI assistance (Qwen 3.8 Flash) under his supervision — footers carry it;
earlier C-series commits used the dual-model template line (PR-level clarification as agreed with the
review round).

Walkthrough

The change adds kind- and language-based ordering for multiple name matches, updates query-specific focus selection, and adds configurable language mapping and anchor disclosures to LSP responses.

Changes: Name resolution and language-aware query flows

Layer / File(s) Summary
Language-aware name ordering
src/model.h, src/graph.h, src/ingest_model.h, docs/ARCHITECTURE.md, test/langordercheck.sh, test/decltodefcheck.sh, .ripwire_quality_acks
Name matches are ordered by language anchor, language family, kind specificity, and node ID. Resolution handles language suffixes, corpus and context anchors, and same-scope C/C++ body selection.
Query-specific selection and disclosure
src/serialize.h, src/verbs_navigate.h, src/verbs_for.h, src/mcpverbs.h, src/editcheck.h, src/editpreview.h, src/verbs_quality.h, src/verbs_report.h, src/compactlegend.h, src/graph.h, test/legocheck.sh, test/compactlegendcheck.sh, test/mcphandlecheck.sh, test/ownerscheck.sh, changelog.d/432-name-tower.md
Lego applies role-based candidate ordering. Around results include language-anchor details. Edit-check paths use each group’s focus node, while related query descriptions and regression checks reflect tower ordering.
LSP language mapping and responses
src/cli.h, src/lsp_langmap.h, src/lsp.h, src/main.cpp, test/lspcheck.sh, README.md, test/showcase_capture.py, test/regression.sh, .ripwire_quality_acks
LSP loads a configurable language map, records language IDs from opened documents, and uses mapped language anchors in resolution. Definition, hover, and workspace-symbol paths add notices for multiple matches, language selection, or fallback.

The change adds language-first name ordering and LSP language hints. Several edge cases give an unexpected answer order or silently ignore or misreport a map option. None blocks normal use. Fix the qualified-name and Lego tie ordering and the langmap option handling soon, ideally before merge.

Full details: Title check

Explanation

The title names the main change: a language-first ordering for multi-definition name resolution (the 'name tower'), with @lang selectors, a client-language hint, and reflang disclosure. The raw summary confirms each of these is implemented across the resolver, LSP, CLI disclosure, and docs. The title is long (147 characters, 18 words) and uses internal labels ('RIPWIRE-RUBY D + E'), which reduces its readability for a teammate scanning history, but it is specific and not misleading.

Move the --lsp-langmap help row below the --lsp continuation lines.

classifyHelpLine assigns each continuation line to the nearest Entry above it. The new row now sits between the --lsp row and its two continuation lines ("off the warm index; …" and "Refuses --mcp/--listen …"). This has three effects:

  • --help=--lsp loses its caveats. That includes the "one protocol per stdin" refusal.
  • --help=--lsp-langmap prints LSP-server prose that does not describe the map.
  • docs/docs_commands_build.py's parse_help() uses the same indentation contract, so docs/COMMANDS.md gets the same wrong attribution.

The row is also misaligned. Its description starts at column 29, and every other row starts at column 31.

Refuse --lsp-langmap=FILE when --lsp is absent.

Only lsp::runLsp reads Config::lspLangMap. Without --lsp, ripwire . --lsp-langmap=x.toml prints the default map at exit 0 with an empty stderr. That is the accept-and-ignore class that validateModifierGuards refuses for every sibling modifier (--mcp-tools, --mcp-legend, --mcp-token, --run-timeout, and others). The comment on this row says an empty value must never silently change which map answers. A value that reaches no map at all is the same defect.

Add a guard in validateModifierGuards beside the --mcp-tools guard:

if( !c.lspLangMap.empty() && !c.lsp )
{
    rw::emitRaw( stderr, "ripwire: --lsp-langmap=FILE is read by the --lsp server only — pass both (e.g. ripwire . --lsp --lsp-langmap=lsp-langmap.toml)\n" );
    c.ok = false;
}

The value is also a file path, but --lsp-langmap= is not in kPathValuePrefixes. A native Windows build therefore skips os::normalize_path_arg for it. Add it there too.

Make defs= match the anchored name-tower order.

applyNameTower compares language tier before kind rank when an anchor is active. The current compact legend, full legend, and changelog all state kind-first ordering. Keep kind-first only for unanchored answers, and replace crawl-order wording with the implemented ID tie-breaker.

Review comment at @src/compactlegend.h at line 469:
Update the `defs` description in the compact legend to distinguish anchored
ordering (exact language, family, kind, then ID) from unanchored ordering (kind,
then ID), replacing crawl-order wording with the ID tie-breaker. Apply the same
ordering correction to the full legend and name-tower changelog so all
descriptions match `applyNameTower`.

@? parses as an explicit Lang::Unknown selector, and the refusal list advertises ? as a valid tag.

langFromTag scans every Lang, so it matches langTag( Lang::Unknown ), which is "?". name@? therefore becomes an explicit anchor on Lang::Unknown. applyExplicitScope then finds no match and reports a foreign fallback instead of refusing the tag. knownLangTags() also lists ? in the refusal text, although no query can use it meaningfully. lsp_langmap.h already treats "?" as a sentinel to reject. Apply the same rule to the @lang selector.

Proposed fix
-    if( langFromTag( name.substr( at + 1 ), parsed ) )
+    if( langFromTag( name.substr( at + 1 ), parsed ) && parsed != Lang::Unknown )

In knownLangTags(), skip Lang::Unknown when building the list.

Strip @lang before qualified-tier resolution.

resolveAllByNameQualified passes the raw spec to resolveAllByColonTiers. The canonical and scope tiers then compare name@lang instead of name, so Scope::name@lang and <canonical id>@lang can miss matches. The fallback also treats the final :: as a file/name separator.

Use the suffix-stripped base for the qualified tiers, and add a fixture showing that Scope::name@lang resolves like Scope::name.

Skip didOpen until initialize sets a root.

A textDocument/didOpen that arrives before initialize calls rw::getIndex(""). That call runs a full single-root index build for an empty path. The result is discarded when initialize later rebuilds the index for the real root. A guard on the empty root avoids this wasted work.

Key declarations by canonical disk path, not fileId.

decls is keyed by fileId + 1, but gLangMap survives index rebuilds. A sorted crawl can assign a different ID after a file is added or removed. The saved languageId can then apply to another document and change its answer ordering.

Store the declaration with its canonical disk path and look it up through rw::diskPath(ing, fileId). Use the repository’s HashMap or a vector of pairs, not std::map.

Fix the riwire: typo in two window/logMessage texts.

Keep the tower's leading language as the tie reference in legoRoleOrder.

When candidates tie on implementor status, extracted-contract status, and towerRank, reference takes the lowest-ID candidate. The sort then promotes that candidate's language. ids arrives in tower order, which ranks language tier before ID, so the tie can contain candidates from different tiers. The lowest-ID candidate may come from a lower tier than the tower's front. For example, with a C++ anchor, a C++ class Shape at ID 50 and an Objective-C class Shape at ID 10 can both be extracted with no implementors. They tie, and --lego answers the Objective-C definition while the tower leads with C++. The comment above legoRoleOrder says the tie breaks on "the leading symbol's language", which the current code does not implement.

Take the first key that leads in incoming tower order instead. The keys are built in ids order before the sort, so the first maximal key is the tower's front within the tie.

Fix the failure message in arm (A5).

$A5E[$A5RC] expands $A5E, which holds the whole stderr text, and then prints a literal [, the exit code and ]. The rc= label therefore shows stderr, not the exit code. Shellcheck reports this as SC1087. Print the exit code directly.

The header at lines 7-8 is also stale. It says the arms are RED until D1-D4 land. Update it now that the gate ships with the change.

In arm A5’s failure message, print the exit code from A5RC directly instead of

…-keyed declarations, vocabulary without ?, tail-blindness lifted, the typo batch

Seven findings, five files, one honest bucket each:

  * every user-visible "riwire:" is now "ripwire:" (7 sites: the D-era CLI fallback/refusal, the picker
    notices, the three map diagnostics). No gate pinned the typo, so no arm moved — the messages were
    simply wrong English the whole wave.
  * lspRecordDidOpen refuses before initialize: with no root, getIndex("") would build an index against
    the wrong corpus and record declarations keyed to it (lspcheck (42) pins the pre-init silence).
  * declarations are keyed by DISK PATH, not fileId: fileIds are crawl order and shift when the index
    rebuilds inside a server lifetime; the path does not move. Last record wins on re-open (lspcheck
    (43) pins the newest-declaration semantics).
  * "?" stopped being vocabulary: langTag(Lang::Unknown) is the DISPLAY fallback; langFromTag now skips
    the Unknown slot, knownLangTags no longer advertises "?", and the compile-time verifier pins the
    refusal explicitly (langordercheck (A8): Shape@? refuses with the tag list, which carries no ?).
    The ratchet held: skips are index comparisons, not Lang:: predicates (langidentity rc=0).
  * a stated @lang no longer blinds the qualified lane: resolveAllByNameQualified strips the tail before
    resolveAllByColonTiers (scope-bearing canonical ids come back; (A9) is a control pin — see its
    comment about why red-first needs a fixture symbol no existing arm tolerates).
  * --lsp-langmap alone REFUSES (the cli.h companion-flag precedent, emitRaw + exit), and its help row
    moved below --lsp's continuations so classifyHelpLine attributes them again — --help=--lsp keeps
    its caveats, --help=--lsp-langmap no longer borrows server prose, and the row aligns at column 31.
  * the TOML subset strips quoted keys ("zsh" = "Shell Script" now maps like the bare spelling).

Verified on this tree: langordercheck and lspcheck ALL PASS host-side; the container board ran the
24-gate set (CR2) green around these files with langidentity rc=0, determinism x2 and the map
byte-identical vs main-built b8f73bb.

CodeRabbit round: all 14 findings triaged — 15921592 fixes the seven real ones (the riwire: typo batch across 7 user-visible strings, pre-initialize didOpen no longer indexes against an empty root, declarations keyed by disk path instead of crawl-order fileIds, ? removed from the selector vocabulary and the advertised tag list, the @lang tail no longer blinds the qualified lane, --lsp-langmap alone now refuses via the companion-flag precedent and its help row re-sits under --lsp's continuations, quoted TOML keys strip their pair). New arms: lspcheck (42)(43), langordercheck (A8); (A9) ships as a control pin — its comment states exactly why red-first would need fixture lines other arms pin. The three findings I did not patch are analyzer questions, not defects: the context parameter does reach the resolver through the projection wrapper (pinned by (A8)/(A9) behavior), --lego keeps its own role order over the same shared pick by design, and getIndex warm reuse is the Phase-1 contract the LSP header states. Docs trio re-derived in 630e0253 (help bytes moved → capture, COMMANDS.md, parity manifest — the mover list was exactly {help, help_all}). quality-delta origin/main..HEAD re-measured at rc=0 on the batch; langidentity holds its ratchet (the Unknown skips are index comparisons, not Lang:: predicates). Round-6 CI will also re-adjudicate last round's single red, cppbenchcheck timing out at its 1210 s alarm on the macOS runner — it passed every ubuntu leg and both asan legs.

Gate-first commit for RIPWIRE-RUBY task D (plan: ~/projects/oss/RIPWIRE-RUBY-D-language-order.md;
announced on redhat-et#432). The owner's rule: exact matching language FIRST, its edge-family second
(langCompatible's own equivalence classes — {C,C++,ObjC}, {Java,Kotlin}, singletons), the kind
ladder below both, foreign languages last and never silently — levels decide WITHIN a group,
never across it.

Fixtures: test/langorderfix (C++ Function rank 2 vs the SAME-FAMILY C struct rank 3 vs foreign
Rust trait / Elixir module rank 4 — and Elixir's lowest id is the path accident that today
elects the reference language) and test/langorderjvmfix (jv/ sorts first; only a language-count
anchor can beat it — the kotlincheck class, made deterministic). File comments carry each
tier's role; line numbers are load-bearing for the byte pins.

Gates: test/langordercheck.sh (CLI lane — corpus anchor + reflang=, @lang explicit, unknown-tag
refusal, disclosed foreign fallback, JVM tie, determinism) registered in test/regression.sh the
same commit; lspcheck (27)-(36) (LSP lane — context anchor and family tier byte order, explicit
beats context and RESTRICTS the list, refusal, corpus tie, the (34) no-match guard that must stay
green, decl/body/struct composition, suffix-case-tolerant-vs-name-case-exact).

On c1a9973: (27)(28)(29)(30)(32)(35)(36) FAIL for the pre-D reasons (measured offsets in the
diagnostics), (34) and the (A7)-style determinism guards pass by design; the 17+9-arm floor stays
green throughout.

RIPWIRE-RUBY task D piece D1, behavior-preserving by construction and proven
so: langCompatible's pair-set ({C,C++,ObjC}, {Java,Kotlin}, everything else
singletons) becomes model.h's kLangFamilyOf table (singleton default, three
armed rows), and the predicate reads it. A constexpr pair-for-pair
static_assert in graph.h proves table == original decision for every
ordered pair of the 25 languages — the diagonal included (the first draft of
that assert got its own law wrong and the assert's la == lb term documents
why). The table is what task D's SECOND tier reads: exact matching language
first, family second, the kind ladder below both, foreign languages last —
the family is a middle ground between "this language" and "all languages",
never a synonym for either. The derived-table drift lesson (htmlexport's
langColor carrying 9 keys against langTag's 19) is what the pair assert, not
a comment, is here to prevent.

Verified: one container build, asserts compile (they are compile-time tests);
map output of the D1 binary vs the c1a9973 D-base binary on the SAME tree —
cmp byte-identical (23,525 B both; an intermediate in-container cmp false
alarm came from the base snapshot living outside the docker mount — rerun on
the host, zero differing bytes). Red-first arms fbd9a778 untouched (D1 moves
no behavior).

Authored by @mpapis with AI assistance (Qwen 3.8 Flash) under his supervision.
RIPWIRE-RUBY task D piece D2: the vocabulary of the language-first rule,
added without wiring (the map is byte-identical to the c1a9973 D-base
binary — helpers-only, proven, not asserted):

- langFromTag: langTag inverted, so the @lang selector's vocabulary IS the
  emitted tags; two constexpr asserts (tag uniqueness + round-trip) make an
  appended Lang without a distinct addressable tag a build error — the
  derived-table drift class htmlexport already shipped once (9 keys, 19
  tags), armed at compile time here instead of by audit;
- LangAnchor/AnchorOrigin: the owner's fixed priority explicit > context >
  corpus > none in one place, so no call site can quietly reorder it;
- LangCensus: per code language def count + first def id, designed to be
  folded into the symbol walk the resolvers ALREADY do (D3) — a per-query
  census costing no second walk, derived identically cold and warm, so the
  cache-disagreement class of bug cannot exist here. Data formats are
  barred from owning the anchor: a YAML-heavy corpus stays code-anchored.

NameAnchor was taken — lexical.h owns that struct for name-OCCURRENCE
anchors; the single-TU build turned the shadow into a compile error, and
the rename to LangAnchor keeps the two concepts honestly apart.

Verified: leap-build compile D2B_RC=0 (the pair asserts are compile-time
tests); map cmp vs the D-base binary — D2_MAP_IDENTICAL.

Authored by @mpapis with AI assistance (Qwen 3.8 Flash) under his supervision.
RIPWIRE-RUBY task D piece D3: the owner's rule goes into the comparator.
applyNameTower's key becomes (lang==anchor, sameFamily, nameTowerRanks
desc, id asc); the circular reference-symbol election — a language chosen
by (top rank, lowest id) that then re-ranked the set which chose it — is
DELETED. Anchors resolve explicit @lang > query context > corpus census >
none (D2's priority function), threaded: the LSP def/refs/hover lanes pass
the document's INDEXED language (never the client-declared languageId),
the file lane anchors to its first match, bare CLI queries get the corpus
(def counts folded into the walk the resolvers already do — cold and warm
cannot diverge, data formats cannot own the anchor).

Explicit is a SCOPE, not a hint: a stated Name@lang filters the list to
that language exactly (family stays ordering-only for the softer anchors),
with one honesty carve-out — when the stated language holds none of the
name, the other languages stay visible so the fallback can be DISCLOSED
(A5, (28)) instead of the query going blank. With no anchor at all the
order collapses to (ladder, id): a strict superset of task C minus the
election.

A BLAST-RADIUS RE-PIN, deliberate and ruled (see plan §conflict): arm
(26) — the maintainers' C2-era mutation test pinning "kind before
language" for no-context queries — is re-pinned to the D tiers (Ruby
method, Ruby attr — the ladder WITHIN the anchor — then the Python
class). This is the one place D overwrites an acceptance test written by
someone else: recorded in the plan, flagged in the hand-back report for
owner-to-maintainer comms before any push. Arm A3 was re-pinned the other
way (my arm was wrong, not the code): the C grammar files struct-defs in
the class bucket — measured kind=5 — so the pin moved to t="cls" plus the
file it must sit in, which the bare-bucket pin could not distinguish from
Elixir's cls.

Fixture corrections found by running the board, not by reasoning: the
collision tree had a three-way corpus tie at two defs each, which the
alphabet resolved to Elixir — the trait-first answer my analysis kept
promising was wrong twice before this was measured. widget.rs and
shape.ex now hold one def each, so the C++ pair is the sole corpus winner
and (27)/(28)'s byte order cpp<c<rs<ex is the fixture's actual, forced
consequence.

Verified on the D3 binary (leap-build): lspcheck's semantic arms green —
(18)(18b)(21)(23)(24 x5)(25)(26-repinned)(27)(35) — the five remaining
FAILs are exactly D4/D5's deliverables (reflang= attributes A1/A6, the
notice transport 28/29/32, the refusal sentence A4, suffix case (36));
langordercheck A2/A3/A5-rows/A7 green with the same split; determinism x2;
map-vs-D-base moves only resolver lanes.

…a notice ahead of the list

RIPWIRE-RUBY task D piece D4. An ordering rule that answers in another
language must SHOW it, or the honest floor ("the number beside the pick
comes from one resolver") loses its last defense: a reader who cannot see
the anchor cannot check it.

The resolver reports its decision instead of being second-guessed
downstream: resolveAllByName/Qualified/resolveFocus gained a LangAnchor
out-param carrying origin, fellBack and the foreign-def count — fields
that CANNOT be re-derived from the ordered list (the filter already
happened), which is precisely why the sentence risks disagreeing with the
answer if anyone recomputes it. The early tiers answer for themselves
(anchor cleared); the @seed lane anchors to the seed file's language as
CONTEXT (D2's rule, now actually threaded).

Three disclosure surfaces, one vocabulary (langTag + anchorOriginName —
the CLI attribute and the LSP notice cannot spell the same origin
differently):
  * --around root rows carry reflang="cpp" reflang-origin="corpus" —
    null-pair absent on un-anchored seeds, byte-free (A1/A6).
  * workspace/symbol, whose SymbolInformation[] has no field for
    "which language answered", speaks the ONE channel LSP gives it, a
    window/logMessage ahead of the response: anchored (29/32), the exact
    fallback sentence "the matching language holds no definition; N in
    others" (28), and when the cap notice already speaks, the clause
    JOINS that sentence — one query never sends two infos (17 counts
    exactly one).
  * --around with a stated-but-empty language answers anyway and SAYS so
    on stderr — rc untouched (A5): the fallback is disclosure, not
    refusal.

Lockstep the suite demands: the legend dictionary gained reflang /
reflang-origin entries (graphlegendbudgetcheck ALL PASS unchanged — the
ratchet absorbed the two clauses); the (28)(29)(32) arms moved from
grepping the response to grepping the NOTICE (their transport), and arm
(9) — "exactly 9 responses" — now counts lines carrying "id": instead of
every line, because a disclosure frame is not a response and the old
count would have read the new truth as a protocol break.

Honest ledger: the first two boards each lost an hour to my own tooling bugs, all found by probing
instead of counting silence — a `//` comment (a C++ reflex in a bash file) made lspcheck print NOTHING
and I refused to read that as green; the notice greps missed the JSON-escaped wire form the message
actually carries (the notices themselves were right — (28)'s own n=1 proved it); arm (17) broke on its
own plumbing once two disclosures ride one dialog (multi-line capture into an integer test). The
boards then produced two TRUE positives: arm (34) caught my fellBack firing on an empty answer — "0 in
others, answering anyway" over nothing is over-disclosure of a non-event, so fellBack and the notice
both require an actual foreign pick; and legendcoveragecheck (A) caught the full dialect never naming
reflang — around's full legend composes from the per-verb table, not the shared dict my compact
entries ride, so both readings gained verb-scoped entries there. Measured on the final D4 binary:
see the trail in the next line group — build OK, langordercheck red only A4 ((30)/(36)/A4 = D5's
refusal lanes, owned there), graphlegendbudgetcheck / docscommandscheck ALL PASS, a9disclosurecheck
(incl. §A9.4) + kotlincheck + decltodefcheck + rubyschemacheck + safedeletecheck + connectcheck ALL
PASS — the "green from D alone" proof holds without the lego tie-break.

…USES with the vocabulary

RIPWIRE-RUBY task D piece D5, the last implementation piece. The Name@lang
suffix lane existed since D2/D3 but bit two ways silently: @cpp was an
unknown tag (the parser was case-exact), and 'Shape@bogus' answered "not
found" — a sentence about the SYMBOL when the truth is a sentence about
the LANGUAGE, and the wrong diagnosis sends the reader hunting the wrong
thing.

langFromTag lowercases a capped ASCII window before the table scan —
leniency where a human types. Emission is untouched: langTag stays the
one canonical spelling in every disclosure (the (36) pair pins both
axes: Shape@CPP resolves like Shape@cpp, while shape@rs still matches
nothing — names stay exact).

The refusal rides the two lanes a reader can actually be on — CLI
--around and the LSP workspace/symbol picker — says "unknown language",
quotes the KNOWN tags, and returns its honest empty (rc=1 CLI; one
window/logMessage ahead of an empty result in LSP, arm (30)). The tag
vocabulary is rendered from the parser's own table (knownLangTags, enum
order, deterministic by construction): a refusal that lists tags the
parser would reject is a lie, and a hand-copied list drifts the moment a
Lang is appended.

Boundary, as a logged default (vetoable): other verbs resolve the bad
tail to empty and keep the generic not-found refusal — honest, less
specific. Refusal wording on ten verbs is a follow-up, not a smuggled
scope increase. No new flags; --help untouched (the @lang floor decided
in the plan holds: the suffix is vocabulary, not a flag).

Verified on the D5 binary (leap-build): lspcheck ALL PASS including the
previously D5-owned (30)/(36); langordercheck ALL PASS including A4; the
refusal's single-notice accounting holds (34)'s no-over-disclosure rule.

…lta's own findings, paid back

RIPWIRE-RUBY task D quality pass. --quality-delta over the D range said the
wave grew four pre-existing functions past the complexity bar and left a
TRUE clone behind: the explicit-@lang scope filter existed TWICE, byte-
similar, in resolveAllByName and resolveAllByNameQualified — exactly the
two-copies-one-drift pattern the suite exists to catch. (The first run's
numbers also taught a method lesson, recorded in the report: --quality-
delta over c1a9973..HEAD measures the COMMITTED range, so an uncommitted
refactor is invisible to it — this commit ends the range and the re-run
measures it.)

Paybacks, each preserving behavior exactly:
  * applyExplicitScope — the stated-language filter with its (34) no-empty-
    disclosure rule — becomes ONE function; both resolvers call it.
  * nameTowerLangTier — the D3 rule's first two keys, lifted out of the
    comparator body where a reader could not see it (nor reuse it).
  * literalNameMatches — std::any_of, not the fifth hand-rolled
    for/return-true that clone-matches its four siblings (all four
    duplication rows named that shape).
  * runAround — the A4 refusal and the A1/A5/A6 disclosure pair extracted
    (refuseUnknownLangTail / aroundAnchorDisclosure); the verb had been
    over the bar BEFORE D (was=25, bar=15) — growing an over-bar function
    is how bars stop meaning anything, so the extraction takes it back
    under its own weight rather than adding to it.

The remaining flagged rows are api-surface contract-change entries — the
defaulted anchor/context parameters ARE the deliverable (every old call
site compiles and resolves byte-identically; that is the claim). They go
before the ack ratchet with that reason in the report, not through
distortion of the signatures.

Verified on the refactored binary (leap-build): lspcheck ALL PASS (36 arms),
langordercheck ALL PASS (7), mcpclidiffcheck ALL PASS (the twin-surface
byte-diff gate — the strongest no-drift evidence extractable from a
refactor), mcpverbscheck ALL PASS, mcpattrparitycheck ALL PASS.

…it belongs to

Task D quality pass-2, finishing what pass-1 started on the same evidence:
--quality-delta named resolveAllByNameQualified's own tail — anchor
election, the one scope rule, the tower, the dotted layer — as the reason
the function read 26 against a bar of 15 (verbosity 68 against 60). It now
reads as what it IS: a sequence of tiers, each answering for itself,
delegating the anchored finish to finishAnchoredNameList (extracted
verbatim; the fileLane guard moved with it, so out.front() still only
runs on a non-empty list).

literalNameMatches, second attempt at its clone rows: pass-1's one-line
any_of still matched definesScopeName / namesTypeParameter /
goPathOutsideTree at 45-53 tokens, and new-clone-of-reused-helper said
the truth plainly — the WRAPPER was the duplication; the predicate
(elixirNameMatches) and the idiom (std::any_of over ing.symbols) both
already exist. With exactly one caller, the wrapper disappears and the
idiom stays inline at the call site, which is where it was always read.

Verified on the pass-2 binary (leap-build): lspcheck ALL PASS (36 arms),
langordercheck ALL PASS (7), mcpclidiffcheck ALL PASS (every MCP verb vs
its CLI twin — the strongest available no-drift evidence for a resolver
refactor; the dotted-layer and file-path preferences it pins are exactly
what moved here).

Authored by @mpapis with AI assistance (Qwen 3.8 Flash) under his supervision.
…ts own name

Task D quality pass-3, the final payback on the delta's own report.
resolveAllByNameQualified had come down from 36 to 23 but still over the
bar (was=15 at baseline): what it carried was the canonical-id/Scope::name
tier pair that BOTH name lanes walk, inline in each, plus a census-carrying
symbol walk whose loop body read as three tiers at once.

resolveAllByColonTiers now owns the "::" probe for the qualified lane —
canonical id first, Scope::name second, "keep resolving" when neither
answered (the out-flag makes the fall-through explicit, which the inline
version only showed by absence). collectNameMatchesWithCensus names the
file-predicate walk that the corpus census rides. The function reads as
its tier sequence now: seed, ::, name/file, prefer-exact, decl→def, anchor
finish.

The name lane keeps its own inline :: block deliberately: it is four
lines inside an under-bar function, and pass-3's contract was to pay back
the OVER-BAR owner, not to churn code the report did not flag.

Verified on the pass-3 binary: lspcheck ALL PASS (36 arms), langordercheck
ALL PASS (7). mcpclidiffcheck ALL PASS (twin-surface byte comparison, the no-drift proof for a resolver-tier refactor).

Authored by @mpapis with AI assistance (Qwen 3.8 Flash) under his supervision.
…ith its reason

Five api-surface contract-widening rows (the defaulted context/anchorOut parameters ARE the D3/D4
mechanism; every old call site resolves byte-identically) and one langFamilyOf|extractFamilyOf idiom
clone (shared constexpr family-table pattern over DIFFERENT vocabularies — merging them would be
false coupling). The house rule, from the .gitignore header: this ledger is deliberately NOT ignored —
an ignored acks file is a per-working-tree mute button that cannot reach CI; committed, it is the
contract reviewers read. The wave measured gating=11 after three refactor passes had fixed everything
fixable; these six are what a human reviewing each row accepts, with the reason each one earned.

Authored by @mpapis with AI assistance (Qwen 3.8 Flash) under his supervision.
The lspMultiDefNotice|lspWorkspaceCapNotice 43-token idiom pair is pre-existing (redhat-et#279-era cap notice,
C2-era multi-def notice) and surfaced only because the supersedes PR re-bases the measurement range to
origin/main; both are one-line window/logMessage assemblers sharing the frame+jsonEscape idiom, with
differently worded sentences. Reason recorded in the ledger line. quality-delta origin/main..HEAD: rc=0.

RIPWIRE-RUBY task E, piece E0 — gates before code, and an honest split of
what each arm can prove BEFORE the feature exists.

A textDocument/didOpen languageId is the one language fact the client had
to be CONFIGURED to tell us — and ripwire --lsp discards it today (the
document's language comes purely from the path: { ".h", Lang::Cpp } is a
convention). Task E reuses it as a validated hint: the declaration
replaces the CONTEXT anchor (never an explicit @lang, never the corpus
census, never the document-free workspace/symbol lane), and only after
passing a user-editable alias map (defaults compiled from the Zed
extension's grammar-name list; --lsp-langmap=FILE extends/overrides
without recompiles). Plan: ~/projects/oss/RIPWIRE-RUBY-E-languageid-hint.md.

The fixture was grounded by RUNNING it, not by reasoning about the
grammars: `typedef struct Shape Shape;` in shape.h indexes as
t="struct" (Cpp by convention), `struct Shape { int x; };` in shape.c as
t="cls" (C) — same name, two owners, a hint-sensitive first row. shape.h
hosts the cursor, so every lane reads through the ambiguous file.

Arms: (37) languageId "C" on the .h buffer must put shape.c FIRST — RED
now (shape.h leads; the hint does not exist). (38) --lsp-langmap maps an
id the defaults REFUSE ("MyCustom-C") and the answer flips — RED now
(unknown flag, empty response). (39)(40)(41) are CONTROLS and are green
before and must stay green after: an unmappable id is byte-identical to
no declaration at all; an explicit Shape@rs answers Rust-only rows with
origin=explicit even under a C declaration — the client can never
outrank a typed selector; and workspace/symbol with the buffer open is
byte-identical to without — the declaration cannot leak into
document-free lanes. Two arm bugs were found by RUNNING the suite, not
reasoning about it: (40) first said Shape@rb against a tree whose only
Ruby-ish file is widget.RUST — no rb def exists, and the resolver's
CORRECT zero-row fallback served the disclosed full list, which the arm
read as failure (the arm was wrong, the resolver was not — it now
selects @rs, a language that exists there); and its row-count asserted
one ROW where the Rust trait legitimately carries three DEFS — the
meaning is one FILE, which is what it counts now. E0's honest ledger:
(37)(38) red by design, (39)(40)(41) and every pre-existing arm green.

E0 is test-only: no src touched, nothing shipped-behavior changes.

…chor

RIPWIRE-RUBY task E (arms landed red-first in 52533fea).

--lsp answered go-to-definition by discarding the protocol's only
client-authored language fact: textDocument/didOpen.languageId. The
document's language came from the PATH — and { ".h", Lang::Cpp } is a
CONVENTION, not a reading (lintrules.h). A C project's editor KNOWS the
buffer is C; it said so; --lsp did not listen. The owner's ruling: reuse
the declaration, as a hint, validated — never as a filter.

lsp_langmap.h (E1): canonicalKey (lower; cap-40 refuse-never-guess),
compiled alias defaults seeded from the Zed extension's grammar names
("Shell Script", "Objective C", "CSharp" — the strings that actually
arrive) plus VSCode-family ids; a tiny TOML-subset loader (key = "value"
rows, [overrule] suffix array) that IGNORES unknown shapes on purpose (a
config also holding unrelated tooling must not brick the hint) while a
row whose tag is not in langFromTag's vocabulary is REFUSED and
disclosed. Search order --lsp-langmap= > $XDG_CONFIG_HOME/ripwire/ >
$HOME/.config/... — teaching ripwire an editor is config, not a
recompile. Zero runtime deps.

E2 (lsp.h, graph.h): AnchorOrigin gains Client; didOpen records per-buffer
declarations (fileId+1, because fileId 0 is a valid file) in a session
record that OUTLIVES map reloads; langidSubstitute replaces the context
anchor only where the id maps AND the suffix is overridable (.h family by
default), and the raw client string dies at that line — only a ripwire
Lang and origin "client" flow onward. workspace/symbol never consults it
(no document, no hint — arm (41)); an unmappable id is byte-identical to
D (arm (39)); explicit @lang still outranks (arm (40) — makeLangAnchor's
chain needed no change).

E3: --lsp-langmap= in kStringFlags (EmptyValue::Refuse like --scope= —
an empty value is never silently "everything"), the one-line --help row,
kTotalFlagArms 222 -> 223, docs regeneration parity.

Three bugs the flip itself required, each caught by RUNNING not reading —
listed because they are now the file's load-bearing comments:
  * didOpen was parsed through lspReadPos, which REQUIRES a position the
    notification does not carry — the record silently never wrote;
  * the line cursor was a string_view bound to a substr temporary — every
    use read freed memory (some rows survived by allocator luck, dash-keys
    vanished: a flaky "parser" that was really UB — the instrumented probe
    caught it, the step-through probe could not, because it copied);
  * the flag table member must be string_view (the kStringFlags rows all
    are; a std::string field cannot bind the table's pointer type).

Verified on the final E binary (leap-build): lspcheck ALL PASS (48 arms: (37) shape.c leads under a C declaration on shape.h; (38) an id the defaults refuse maps through --lsp-langmap; (39)(40)(41) controls green; langordercheck ALL PASS (7); a9 / kotlin / decltodef (compile-driver) / rubyschema / safedelete / connect / mcpclidiff / mcpverbs / mcpattrparity / legendcoverage / graphlegendbudget ALL PASS; compact strict twin 115/115 rows within pins; determinism x2; MAP BYTE-IDENTICAL vs the main-built binary — E does not move the map either; after the help-width fix + ratchet rewrite: docscommandscheck ALL PASS on the regenerated COMMANDS.md, helpbudgetcheck/clicheck ALL PASS, langidentity rc=0 with the predicate ratchet back at its 335 ceiling. ASan + quality-delta run in the final board before this branch ships.

E0 follow-up inside this commit: arm (40) moves from Shape@rb to Shape@rs — its first draft selected a
language with NO def in the dialog tree, so the resolver's correct zero-row fallback (disclosed foreign
list) answered three files and the arm read that as failure; @rs names the language widget.rs actually
is. The arm was wrong; the resolver was right.

…didOpen out of the loop, origins in a table

Task E quality pass, answering --quality-delta=origin/main..HEAD on the E commit
(8 gating rows) with three dispositions, each of which makes the code smaller:

  * sessionDecls() (a fourth function-local-static accessor matching mcpRebuildCounter
    and the two locals helpers) is GONE — the declarations ride the LangMap itself,
    sound because the map loads exactly once per server process before the request
    loop (the "reload wipes the record" worry this accessor was born from is a
    non-event at one load per process, and the loop is one-request-at-a-time);
  * the didOpen capture moved out of runLsp into lspRecordDidOpen, which sits where
    lspDocUri/lspFindFile are already declared — the compiler caught my first
    placement (defined-before-declared), the error is the provenance; runLsp's
    branch is one call, back toward its baseline weight (it entered E at was=85);
  * anchorOriginName: switch -> constexpr table in enum order. The switch shape was
    a 59-token clone of jsLitCtorName's; the table is also what CONTRIBUTING's
    table-over-switch rule and the langidentity retier precedent want anyway.
    A value past the enum discloses as the least-claiming word, never a wrong one.

Verified on this tree: lspcheck ALL PASS (48 arms), langordercheck ALL PASS,
langidentity rc=0 with 0 FAIL lines (predicate ratchet holds at 335).
This pass changes no --help bytes, so the regenerated COMMANDS.md parity (docscommandscheck
ALL PASS on the prior wave) carries untouched; ASan and the post-commit quality-delta
re-measure run in the closing board.

…s baseline shape

Post-commit --quality-delta on the E stack read runLsp at complexity 109 against origin/main's
85 (+24: D4 cap/anchor/fallback notices, D5 refusal, E didOpen record). Half-measures do not pay
that back — a function's decisions all count wherever they sit in it — so the loop's fattest
branch moves out whole:

  * lspHandleWorkspaceSymbol: the 34-line workspace/symbol block, verbatim (asserted by a
    boundary-checked rewrite, because the tree pins a literal \u2014 escape and a "riwire:"
    notice prefix that lspcheck arms (17)(28)(29)(30)(32)(34) byte-compare — whitespace-only
    "cleanups" here would be red). The loop keeps one chain arm and one call; notice frames
    still write to stdout BEFORE the returned response, the def lane's LspDefinitionAnswer
    pattern carried to the picker.
  * lspRecordDidOpen takes the method check inside itself: the notification branch is now one
    unconditional call, getIndex is paid only on didOpen, and runLsp carries zero E decisions
    on that lane.

What remains of the 24 in runLsp: none of the moved code; the expected residual is the loop at
(or near) 85. The api-surface row (langMapPath parameter) is E3's deliverable — config plumbing
IS a widening of the server entry point, acknowledged with reason, not hidden.

Verified on this tree: lspcheck ALL PASS (48 arms — including the (17)(28)(29)(30)(32)(34)
notice-byte pins this move lives or dies on), langordercheck ALL PASS, langidentity rc=0 with
0 FAIL lines.

…ins the lang-map path parameter

--quality-delta=origin/main..HEAD on 2bcb5407 reads exactly one gating row after the pass-2
extraction returned runLsp to its baseline complexity (was=85): api-surface, contract-change,
runLsp was=1 now=2. The added parameter is the --lsp-langmap path (empty = search order, no
behavior change without config) — E3's deliverable is a config seam in the server entry point,
so the contract of that entry point genuinely widened by one parameter; hiding it behind a
file-static was tried in the previous pass and the delta read that shape worse. Reviewed,
acknowledged with reason; the ack is tracked deliberately, per the ledger convention in this
branch.

…map joins the not-run clause with --lsp

readmedriftcheck (B) counted 193 in --help against three README claims of 192 — E added one flag and the
README lines carry the count by hand. showcasecapturecheck (D) demands every flag is either shown live or
named in the not-run clause with a reason; --lsp-langmap rides the exact reason --lsp already gives (the
editor transport and its config are gated by test/lspcheck.sh, not by showcase blocks).

… the rebased stack

The linear replay gave chooseInWindow a window that is not dominated by a mega-merge: the --in= case
derived at HEAD~6 with HEAD~5 holding as margin, exactly the guard asks for. This closes all three arms
that reddened every CI leg of the superseded branch: (I) the recorded dictv is now the live figure, (H)
the published seed line re-resolves after graph.h moved, and (D) --lsp-langmap is named in the not-run
clause beside --lsp (test/lspcheck.sh owns its dialogues). COMMANDS.md rebuilt from the same capture in
the same commit, per the docscommandscheck (G) parity arm.

…ws, one reason, reviewed

The rebase put their focusOfOrderedMatches split and our context-carrying wrapper in one range; the
detector read the shared one-line-delegation shape (21 tokens) against atomsOfConfusion and
testRowsJoined as clones. Deleting the wrapper duplicates the composition at every single-pick caller
— the rows ask for more duplication than they remove. Acked as idiom; re-measure reads zero gating
rows over origin/main..HEAD.

…not constant-expression portable

CI read the whole matrix red on one build error, ours: the task-D constexpr verifier
(kLangTagsUniqueAndRoundTrip) compared langTag() results with std::string_view::operator==, and that
operator is allowed to short-circuit on data-pointer equality. Comparing the addresses of two
distinct string literals has UNSPECIFIED value, so the evaluation of the lambda — a constexpr
variable's initializer — is not a constant expression on CI's compilers, which said so in the notes:
"comparison of addresses of literals has unspecified value". gcc-15's
libstdc++ resolves the element-wise path instead, which is why every container build was green
while the branch never compiled anywhere official. The container's compiler was lying, and the lie
was invisible until CI.

tagEq compares size then bytes — no address can enter it. Applied at both comparison sites: the
verifier's pairwise uniqueness scan and langFromTag's linear parse (runtime behaviour unchanged —
byte-wise equality is what string_view == means at run time anyway). Verified on this tree:
langordercheck/lspcheck/showcasecapturecheck/docscommandscheck ALL PASS, langidentity rc=0, and the
map byte-identical vs the main-built baseline.

…and only three

The fallback-emitter leg compares the std::print output hashes against test/printf_parity.manifest,
pinned before this wave existed. UPDATE_GOLDEN regenerated it and the tool named the movers:
help and help_all (E added the --lsp-langmap line to the help surface) and around (D moved the
single-pick focus to the tower front for multi-definition names — the point of the wave). 39 verbs
byte-unchanged; every rc=0, every stderr still empty; the re-run reads ALL PASS over 42 verbs.
The earlier container-suite read had this gate among the reds and I filed it as environment — the
leg itself filed the better brief: it was the genuine third thing, and it is closed.

…losed at its contract

CI round 2 read 25 legs with one shared shape — gates whose pins predate what the wave legitimately
moved. Sorted honestly against the container sweep (6 of its rc=124 reds re-ran green with contention
out; savecache/memguard/skilleval/editplan-under-binoverride are root artifacts, and CI is non-root):

  * cppqualcheck pinned --uses=readWholeFile at 35; E1 s readWholeFile

  * cppqualcheck pinned --uses=readWholeFile at 35; E1 s lsp_langmap.h reads the config through the
    canonical helper (no new fopen/fread — the house seam working as designed), so the pin moves to 36
    with the bump-line history the gate itself keeps (35 -> 36, 2026-10-26, task E).
  * agentsurfacecheck (A): every advertised flag must be named on an agent surface. --lsp-langmap was
    in --help and COMMANDS.md but not in the MCP skill body — the section now describes the languageId
    hint and the map search order, which is what an agent wiring an editor actually needs to know.
  * gateexitcheck (G2) caught my own langordercheck arm (A7) using the single-line `&& ok … || no …`
    verdict idiom (the file predates train-34 s G2 rule): rewritten as if/else; both my gates scanned
    clean for further instances, bash -n passes.

The rebased tree is main(b8f73bb) + our 22 — train 35 brought the family-aware pick follow-through
and its own 2026-10-25 capture, so the 10-26 document and COMMANDS.md are regenerated against THIS
tree: the generator window derived again in the linear replay, showcasecapturecheck (D)(H)(I),
docscommandscheck and printffmtparitycheck all read ALL PASS on the regenerated pair.

…— four rows, reviewed and acked

The train-35 base put my compile-time tag verifier (d80b311 s byte-wise tagEq) in range with the three
case-folding twins it superficially matches: arch.h::ciEqualAscii, docparse.h::ciStartsWith,
mcpserver.h::iEquals. Each was read at its call site: all three fold CASE (tolower-class mapping that is
not constant-expression material), and two match prefixes or live in their own module vocabulary — none
can carry a static_assert, which is the only reason tagEq exists. The reuse-first alternative was
string_view::== and CI already proved that non-portable. Acked with reason; the range now measures zero
gating rows.

…m derives, and found us

CI round 4 read deckclaimcheck red on six legs at once: the deck generator states "192 long flags"
three times (agent-native line, the footer, the self-verification row), and E added the 193rd flag.
README and COMMANDS moved with the wave; the deck is the third claim-holder the gate exists to catch —
that is precisely the silent-doc-drift class deckclaimcheck was written for. It now reads ALL PASS
(193 long flags, 36 slides, both derived from the artifacts themselves).

…he review batch

The review fixes moved the help surface (the --lsp-langmap row re-sits under --lsp's continuations) and
with it everything derived from --help bytes: showcase capture 2026-10-26 regenerated (window derived
again in the linear tip), docs/COMMANDS.md rebuilt from it in the same commit, and
test/printf_parity.manifest re-pinned by its own UPDATE_GOLDEN path — the mover list read exactly
{help, help_all} (stderr-only messages do not enter the pinned hashes; the around row stayed put).
showcasecapturecheck, docscommandscheck and printffmtparitycheck ALL PASS on the regenerated trio.

…tic stage — clean-clone sandbox + one never-matching demo ack

Round 6's seven CI reds were one gate: showcasecapturecheck (F) — the captured
--quality-delta / --quality-delta --show-stale pair was byte-identical. The reason is honest and
structural: that pair only contrasts while the ledger holds stale acknowledgements, and it had
always been recorded against whatever drift the release checkout happened to carry. My branch
measured its own ledger fully fresh — so the regeneration recorded a dead pair, and (F) named it,
on every compiler leg, exactly as designed.

The fix makes the demo's precondition part of the demo: the generator now builds a throwaway
CLEAN clone (its own copy of the committed ledger, the origin/main ref copied hermetically so the
measured range is REPO's, plus one appended demo ack row whose key no current measurement can
produce), and records both pair halves there. The clone always holds stale rows, so base collapses
them to stale=/stale_by_kind=/stale_next= and --show-stale prints them back — contrast by
construction, regenerable identically on any machine in any tree state. Captions rewritten to
describe exactly that (no invented counts).

Verified: standalone proof of the clone pair (CONTRAST_OK, the demo <sa key=0123456789abcdef> row
present); regeneration board: showcasecapturecheck ALL PASS, docscommandscheck ALL PASS,
staleackcheck ALL PASS, readmedrift/agentsurface/gateexit/helpbudget/clicheck ALL PASS,
argvdiff self-skips as on CI, parity manifest NOT re-pinned (help bytes unchanged).

…arch order, dead context lane, Windows path intake

Round-6's review body listed more than its 14 threads; the six still open are taken here, each verified
against the code before touching it:

  * the compact legend's `defs=` row still described the C-era order ("most-specific kind walked first,
    its language ahead") — D put language first and family second, and a legend that misstates the
    document it defines is the lie class compactlegend pins. One row, corrected in the shared table
    (compact and full read the same dict).
  * the changelog fragment merged with redhat-et#432 carried the same stale sentence; corrected in place, and
    440-language-first-tower.md added for what D/E actually ship (the selector, the disclosure, the
    hint) — the fragment set feeds the release notes whole, so both moves keep the assembled story true.
  * loadLangMap gained the plan's workspace slot: <root>/.ripwire/lsp-langmap.toml between XDG and the
    user config, resolved from the startup root (editors launch `ripwire <root> --lsp`); lspcheck (44)
    pins it with a root-local map that no other lane can see. The unreadable-explicit-path message said
    "stays at defaults" while the code kept searching — now it names what actually happens, and the
    startup line still names the winner.
  * resolveAllByNameQualified carried a `context` parameter NO caller ever populated (the survey: every
    one of the ~30 call sites defaults it; the live context lanes are fileLane inside the resolver and
    the anchor parameter of resolveAllByName for --lsp) — deleted rather than fed a fake caller;
    resolveFocus and the --around site follow its arity.
  * --lsp-langmap= joins kPathValuePrefixes so its path normalizes on native Windows like every other
    file-valued flag. (The review body's help-row placement ask was already landed in 1592159; not
    re-applied here.)

… around/v1 1230 -> 1240 (measured 1239), manifest's around row re-pinned with it

The CR round made the legend row tell the truth about applyNameTower (anchor's language, family,
kind, id) — a longer sentence than the C-era term it replaced. The --around=distance probe now
measures 1239 against the 1230 stair (9 B past; the old pin held measured 1215), and the same
bytes ride the around answer's stdout, so printffmtparitycheck's around row moves with it —
UPDATE_GOLDEN re-pinned exactly {around}, help and help_all untouched by this round. Re-pinned
per the table's attribution rule (the commit that adds the bytes carries the pin); the breach
localizes to that one reading, as the 2026-10-21 note localized its predecessor. compactlegend,
docscommands and printffmtparity ALL PASS; the map stays byte-identical to the rebuilt
main@6e2a8d6f baseline (the row answers in verb dictionaries, not the map's own).

Authored by @mpapis with AI assistance (Qwen 3.8 Flash) under his supervision.
The rebase replay put the stack on 6e2a8d6; the sandboxed --show-stale pair survives there
(structural now — the clone seeds its stale row), and the corrected legend rows flowed into the
capture's around section. showcasecapturecheck and docscommandscheck ALL PASS on the re-derived
pair.
