This update restores the public orchestration progress-ledger module, the harness storage migration entry point and subagent cost API, transcript metadata projection and merge-patch behavior, and JSON Schema support for the session, run-ledger, goal, todo, and run-mode DTOs. Persisted transcript fields remain optional/additive; metadata merges preserve existing object keys.
Validation: cargo check -p tinyagents-session -p tinyagents-harness -p tinyagents-harness-tools -p tinyagents-orchestration passed. cargo test -p tinyagents-session -p tinyagents-harness -p tinyagents-harness-tools -p tinyagents-orchestration passed (all unit and doc tests).
The OpenHuman compile log also reports ChatRequestMetadata and TurnTimingSnapshot fields and SubagentOutput display fields that are owned by TinyChannels, outside this PR.

Completeness: Incomplete Test assessment: Test coverage is assessed from changed tests and lane evidence; execution is not claimed without trusted check data.
Features
Modified — Async turn-model assembly with Sync factory and gate: `ModelFactory::build` becomes an async trait method and both host adapters require `Sync`, so `TurnModelSetBuilder::build` and `TurnModelSet::build` await every primary, workload, and summary factory request before assembly continues while remaining usable inside sendable host tasks; this changes the harness public API to async for downstream hosts. (crates/tinyagents-harness/src/host/model_factory/assembly.rspub struct TurnModelSet<State: Send + Sync> {, crates/tinyagents-harness/src/host/model_factory/types.rsimpl ModelBuildRequest {, crates/tinyagents-harness/src/host/model_factory/README.mdstable description of each requested route.)
Modified — Non-optional schemars with unconditional JsonSchema derives: `schemars` becomes a non-optional dependency and the `json-schema` feature becomes empty, so goal, todo, run-mode, and run-ledger wire types generate schemas unconditionally instead of behind a `cfg_attr` gate. (crates/tinyagents-harness/Cargo.toml, crates/tinyagents-harness-tools/Cargo.toml, crates/tinyagents-harness-tools/src/goals/types.rsimpl ThreadGoalStatus {, crates/tinyagents-harness-tools/src/todos/types.rsimpl TodoList {, crates/tinyagents-harness/src/middleware/library/types.rspub struct TraceCounts {, crates/tinyagents-session/src/run_ledger/types.rspub struct AgentRunUpsert {)
Added — Atomic imported-history adoption: `adopt_messages_if_absent` installs imported model-context history only while a session has never been written, backed by the storage-level atomic `adopt_if_empty` primitive used by session import, so a concurrent writer cannot be clobbered by an import. (crates/tinyagents-session/src/transcript/README.mdRe-exported from `transcript::` (see `../transcript.rs`)., crates/tinyagents-session/src/port/drivers/transcripts_adoption_tests.rsfn an_existing_session_is_left_alone() {, crates/tinyagents-session/src/testkit/in_memory_transcript_tests.rsfn in_memory_transcript_starts_empty() {)

Conclusion: Success
Scope reviewed: all assigned evidence
Lane summary: The async-`ModelFactory` conversion is the only real behaviour change here, and it is pinned: every assembly test now awaits `build()`, the recording fixtures were moved to `Mutex` so the await point is genuinely crossed, `assembly_awaits_async_primary_and_summarization_factories` shows both the primary and summarizer factory bodies run before assembly returns, `turn_model_set_build_future_is_send` pins the documented `Send` contract at compile time, and the existing fatal-primary / gated-or-failed-workload / fatal-summary paths are still exercised. The `schemars` de-featuring is compile-enforced rather than assertable. The only defect I can point at is in the reworded `SubagentUsage::cost` doc comment, which now claims the returned tally carries token cost when `CostTally` holds only `known_usd` and `source`. _The code index is behind this pull request (indexed at `c3d7d3239725`), so retrieved context may be out of date._

Conclusion: Success
Scope reviewed: all assigned evidence
Positive: The description lane answered that the diff does the schema derive work and the transcript `prefix_reset`/adoption changes it describes, but the PR body never mentions the async `ModelFactory::build`/`TurnModelSet::build` conversion or the new `Sync` supertrait bounds, leaving downstream hosts unwarned that implementations and call sites must change.
Lane summary: The diff does the schema derive work, the transcript `prefix_reset`/adoption changes and the docs it describes, but its largest change — `ModelFactory::build` and `TurnModelSet::build` becoming `async`, plus new `Sync` supertrait bounds on both host traits — is never mentioned in the PR body, so downstream hosts reading the description have no warning that their implementations and call sites must change. _The code index is behind this pull request (indexed at `c3d7d3239725`), so retrieved context may be out of date._

Walkthrough
The PR makes model factory construction asynchronous, documents and tests session transcript reset and adoption behavior, adds JSON Schema derives to several public types, and adds coverage for reported subagent cost.
ModelFactory::build is asynchronous, and the factory and gate require Sync. The documentation describes the Send future requirement and route behavior.
Model-set building awaits primary, workload, and summarizer factory calls. Existing error handling remains: primary and summarizer failures propagate, while unavailable or failed workload routes are omitted.
Assembly and resolver tests await model construction. Recording fixtures use mutex-protected request logs, and a test checks that the builder future is Send.

Introduce a prefix_reset boolean on TranscriptMeta, defaulting to false and persisted through the JSONL meta payload so older transcripts load unchanged. All existing constructors and test fixtures set it to false, laying the groundwork for tracking prefix resets.

Adds an adopt_if_empty method to TranscriptHistory and an adopt_messages_if_absent helper on TranscriptLocator so imported model-context messages can be installed only when a session has never been written. ModelSummarizer now accepts a tool rendering policy that can either send full tool calls and results or replace them with bounded markers while dropping tool-result messages, and it can cap summary length via max_tokens. Both default to the previous behaviour so existing callers are unaffected.

Adds README coverage for `Session::reset_history()`, explaining that it seals the current generation, preserves history for recovery, records a prompt-reset marker, and is a no-op for absent or empty sessions. Also documents the `prefix_is_frozen` flag on `SessionStateView` so hosts can tell imported history apart from a session with an authoritative prompt boundary.

Add a concurrent test for first-writer-wins adoption.
The new test calls adopt_messages_if_absent twice in sequence. The second call always sees the first write, so the test never exercises the concurrent case that the method's doc comment describes. A change that checks for an unwritten transcript and writes outside the serialized commit path would still pass this test.
The existing concurrency test covers only append, not adoption. A regression in adopt_if_empty would not be caught.
A regression that splits the check from the write could let two concurrent importers both return true. The second write could then replace the first importer's messages. This test would not detect that regression.
Add a test that starts two threads. Both threads call adopt_messages_if_absent on the same unwritten session with different messages. Use a barrier so that both calls start together. Assert that exactly one call returns true. Assert that the stored contents equal the messages from the winning call. Follow the pattern of concurrent_writers_serialize_through_the_log in crates/tinyagents-session/src/port/drivers/transcripts_tests.rs.

lines 210 - 224:
Add a concurrent adoption test alongside the existing `adopt_messages_if_absent`
test, following the pattern of `concurrent_writers_serialize_through_the_log`.
Start two threads with a barrier, have them adopt different messages into the
same unwritten session, then assert exactly one call returns true and the stored
contents match the winning call’s messages.
Add a direct test for InMemoryTranscriptHistory::adopt_if_empty.
The new test gets its locator from in_memory_transcript(), which returns a driver-backed locator over in-memory storage. It never calls the in-memory history's adopt_if_empty. The adoption tests in transcripts_adoption_tests.rs also use driver-backed locators, and no inspected test reaches this method. Its first-write behavior therefore has no direct coverage.
Add a test in in_memory_transcript_tests.rs that constructs the in-memory history and asserts:
Empty input returns false and leaves the history unwritten.
The first non-empty adoption returns true and stores the normalized messages.
A second adoption returns false and leaves the stored messages unchanged.

normalized messages, and a second adoption returns false without changing the
stored messages.

…_progress_ledger
Added a migrate_storage function that delegates to open_storage, giving callers the established boot API name while returning the same initialized scope. Also exposed the run_progress_ledger module from the orchestration crate so it can be used externally.

…t merging
Thread message patches can now shallow-merge keys into an existing object-valued extraMetadata field instead of only replacing it wholesale, and projected user and assistant display items carry the message's extra metadata through to consumers. SubagentUsage also gains a cost accessor that returns the tally for its charged amount and source.

Co-authored-by: Medulla <medulla@tinyhumans.ai>
Replace the from_usd constructor call in SubagentUsage::cost with a direct struct literal so the snapshot's charged amount and cost source map onto the tally fields without an intermediate conversion.

Adds schemars 1.2.3 to the harness, harness-tools, and session crates so their types can derive JSON schemas.
Auto-committed-on: cuttlefish
Co-authored-by: Medulla <medulla@tinyhumans.ai>
Added schemars::JsonSchema derives to goal, todo, middleware, run ledger, and turn state types so they can be used to generate JSON schemas. The session crate now depends on schemars to support this.

The session crate now enables schemars' chrono04 feature instead of the
removed chrono feature, keeping chrono-backed schema derivation working
with schemars 1.2.3. The lockfile picks up the resulting dependency
updates, including windows-sys 0.61.2 across affected crates.

Removed the schemars::JsonSchema derives from the middleware library types so they no longer depend on schema generation. These types are runtime configuration and state rather than tool-facing schemas, so the derive was unnecessary.

Added an explicit import of serde_json::Value in the thread rewrite driver so the type is in scope without relying on glob re-exports.

Moved the shallow extra-metadata merge logic out of the rewrite driver into a reusable function on the thread types so it can be tested directly. Added tests covering the merge behaviour, patch deserialization, subagent cost exposure, and transcript rendering with metadata.

Adjust the subagent usage test to reference the re-exported type and the
renamed Charged cost source, and reformat several assertions to satisfy
rustfmt. The orchestration module declarations were also reordered
alphabetically.

The message patch tests now fill in the remaining fields with `..Default::default()`, so they keep compiling when `ThreadMessagePatch` gains new fields.

Add a test asserting that migrate_storage returns a storage handle scoped to the same scope it was given, covering the host boot path.

Assert an initialization effect in the migrate_storage boot test.
migrate_storage_initializes_a_scope_for_host_boot_callers checks only that the returned scope equals the input scope. A migrate_storage that returned its input without calling open_storage would pass this test, so removing the initialization would not fail it. The current code is correct: migrate_storage delegates to open_storage. The gap is in regression coverage.
Add an assertion for an effect that open_storage produces, such as a harness-owned collection (for example harness_run_status) being usable on the returned storage. Do not build that check on the migrate helper in this file. The helper creates the collections itself before calling registry.migrate, so it would supply the initialization the test needs to observe.
open_storage documents that later calls for the same scope in the same process skip the work. If the test uses the shared "local" scope, the check can depend on test order. Use a scope that no other test opens.

Strengthen migrate_storage_initializes_a_scope_for_host_boot_callers to verify
an initialization effect, such as making the harness_run_status collection
usable on the returned storage, rather than only comparing scopes. Use a scope
unique to this test so prior open_storage calls cannot affect the result, and do
not use the local migrate helper because it creates collections itself.
Add an Unknown source case to the SubagentUsage cost test.
Add an Unknown source case to the SubagentUsage cost test.
The existing test uses a Charged snapshot and asserts only usage.cost().usd(). That check does not cover how SubagentUsage::cost sets CostTally::source. If cost() hardcoded CostSource::Charged, this test would still pass. Adding source == Charged on the same Charged fixture would not detect that change either, because it also passes under a hardcoded Charged.
usd() returns None only when source is Unknown. An Unknown snapshot therefore exercises the propagation path: a correct implementation returns None, and a hardcoded Charged returns Some(0.25). Keep the existing Charged test and add this case:

Add a persistence test for a merge-only message update.
Add a persistence test for a merge-only message update.
The new tests cover only ThreadMessagePatch deserialization and the merge_extra_metadata helper. No test sends a merge-only patch through the message update path. The merge branch in update_message_native can break without failing the suite. Add a test that applies a patch with only mergeExtraMetadata. Then check the returned message and a later read of the stored message for the merged key and the preserved existing keys.

Duplicate implementations (summarization marker rendering, metadata merge
patch, prefix_reset, display extra_metadata) resolve to upstream's;
schemars stays an unconditional dependency with json-schema as a no-op
feature; vendor submodules point at upstream main.

Removed the sha2 entry from the lockfile and the prefix_reset field from the in-memory transcript test fixture, both of which are no longer referenced.

This PR updates the TinyAgents upstream roll-up required before OpenHuman can advance its gitlink for the security migration.
Required by OpenHuman PR #8487.
This update restores the public orchestration progress-ledger module, the harness storage migration entry point and subagent cost API, transcript metadata projection and merge-patch behavior, and JSON Schema support for the session, run-ledger, goal, todo, and run-mode DTOs. Persisted transcript fields remain optional/additive; metadata merges preserve existing object keys.
